Being a part of ending David Morgan’s political career was amazing. The reverberation of corruption that man inflicted into community where I grew up is still being felt. Surprisingly, to me any way, I fell for the hype of Chip Simmons. Maybe he could save the ECSO. Because I talked to him a bit over the years, I don’t take any pleasure in his fall from grace. One example of my trust happened in 2019, when news came from a trusted journalist that a tip had been received in Miami-Dade from a man arrested in a trap house (sex trafficking house) about a young girl named Jadekiss McNeal, who he knew was from the Panhandle. Now Jadekiss is not a common name and until 2019, there was very little to no exposure on this missing child. So the statistics of this man pulling this name out of his ass would be astronomical. The problem with this tip is that it came in 2017 and the ECSO was contacted by Miami-Dade police to come down and interview this guy. To which, Mike Gilmore on behalf of the ECSO declined. He also requested all the ORIGINAL documentation regarding this gentleman be sent to them. No copies–the ORIGINALS. The Miami-Dade officer was outraged. He knew the only reason for that was to erase the tip. So he refused. Two years later, this cop had this guy’s name come in front of him and he probed as to what happened as to Jadekiss. He found nothing. No one did a thing. Imagine his rage multiplying 100 fold. Escambia County had literally sentenced this young girl to death.
I contacted Chip directly. He said he’d look into it and lo and behold, guess what he found? The tip was in the file and not one person followed up on it. I was indignant. While he could do nothing to “fix” the situation, he could start an investigation. Now it is understandable any leverage against this guy in Miami who saw Jadekiss was gone. 48 hours after someone goes missing, it is less likely they will be found alive or their abductor caught. So 2 years down the road, what do you think are the odds? Kids don’t live 2 years in most cases of human trafficking. Chip told me he didn’t have the power in 2019 to address this issue but when he became Sheriff, he could. As of today, imagine my surprise that no one even reprimanded Mike Gilmore. This was the first chink in the armor of the myth of Chip Simmons.
Since, then I have had a personal issue with a family member and Chip helped me out without question. I am more grateful than you know about that. As I said, I have nothing against the man personally. I sincerely don’t want anyone to think there is any joy in what is going on. I am merely holding up a mirror to the happenings inside this agency. I think we can all finally see there is nothing but further ruination for Chip.
