When I started my research, I suppose you could say I was blissfully naive. I knew there were cases that were bungled. I watch Discovery ID. I wasn’t oblivious to “blind” justice. However, I wasn’t prepared for justice that was willfully deaf and dumb as well. One of the first contacts was someone investigating Bill Eddins for ethical and prosecutorial conduct. This was one of my first red flags.
Another red flag was Sheriff Morgan stating he would not be investigating anything pertaining to the Billings’ business dealings. WHAT????? Any kind of investigation should focus on the life of the victims. Anyone who has ever seen CSI or for that matter anyone who knows human nature would know that murders are seldom committed by strangers. This was no random incident.
Byrd and Melanie had a no social life to speak of outside of family. What’s left? Family & Business. We know Justin tells deputies that he saved his girlfriend by paying for her safety. Why didn’t he pay for his family’s safety or his own personal safety? In a nutshell he knew what was going to happen, so why didn’t he warn his parents?
He claims his buddy Walter in Colorado confirmed it was a “hit” and not a robbery. Who the hell is Walter? Why wasn’t he interviewed? What did he know? Why was Justin in on it?
Taking a step back, in researching the Zetas activities, I found that their activities are based in the southeast and southwest, Colorado and Florida included. So if the theory of this being an organized crime hit is true, Justin and Walter make sense, don’t they? I have found that in researching people that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. The simple explanation that makes all the craziness of this trial make sense is that Byrd & Melanie were casualties of a cartel.
